Introducing
Prompt: 'Nature is free to express its beauty and infinite creativity and humans, instead of fighting her, live in her embrace, astonished by her beauty.' Medium: Digital
This artwork is the final submission from the artist Luca Rossi for the 'Humanity' event by the Faerian gallery. The artist created this piece in 3 days, inspired by a prompt that was submitted by the public. In a unique twist, instead of being interpreted by an AI, this time the prompt was brought to life by a human artist. The entire creative process was livestreamed online and at the NFC Lisboa event.
Original prompt text: -- 'Nature is free to express its beauty and infinite creativity and humans, instead of fighting her, live in her embrace, astonished by her beauty.'
Art Medium: -- Digital
Was AI used? -- Sure! I love using generative art. My approach is a bit unique because I usually start with a paper sketch that I then refine with Midjourney, so I take the result, go back to modify and refine it, and repeat the process over and over again, going back and forth between manual and AI iterations. So, I could say it's 50 and 50.
How is your final artwork related to the prompt? -- There is no boundary between the human world and the natural one. We are nature. In my creation, the human subject in the natural world, colors blend, flowers take on the hues of hair and eyelid makeup, symbolizing beauty but also a desire for blending. The protagonist of my creation has her eyes closed, seemingly lost in the harmony of the surrounding beauty. In the background, there appear to be tree trunks of a forest, but the flowers in the foreground resemble dreamlike visions, perhaps generated by the dream she is experiencing. But who is she? She could symbolize humanity, or she could also be Mother Nature, and we, the flowers, are her children. The abstract nature and indefinite character of the artwork leave the path open for various interpretations.
Why did you choose this prompt? -- Nature has always been my main source of inspiration. As a writer, natural settings are my favorite, and artworks depicting nature are the ones I love the most. And as a runner, I spend over 90 minutes every day running through the woods.
Explain more your creative process: -- I have tried different paths. In the first one, I explored the idea of a fairytale-like mountain landscape and a beautiful valley, then I shifted towards the marine universe. I made several other attempts, but then I got captivated by the three subjects I love the most: femininity, flowers, and the forest. I sought the perfect balance among them, aiming for the fusion and dissolution of boundaries, in order to approach the concept of embrace and union between nature and humanity.
