For Twenty Seconds
I'm lost in this world, a place where everything's right,
Where love reigns supreme, and there's no need to fight.
I swim in the warmth of this powerful glow,
But then I wake up, and it's all just a show.

The first thing I do, as I open my eyes,
Is cling to that dream, as reality tries
To tear it away, like a thief in the night,
Leaving me empty, without any sight.

I grasp at the threads of this fading mirage,
Trying to hold on, to escape from the dodge.
But the harder I try, the faster it fades,
Until I'm left standing, in a bed full of shades.

Oh, why does my brain fight me every day,
Tearing my dreams and my hopes all away?
It's a constant battle, a war in my head,
Leaving me weary and filled with dread.

I ache for a haven, where clarity thrives,
Where the world is at peace, and no child's hope dies.
But it slips through my fingers, like sand in the breeze,
Leaving me hurting and brought to my knees.

It's a cruel twist of fate, a sick life's joke,
That the things that bring joy are so easily broke.
That the dreams that I cherish can vanish so fast,
Leaving me haunted by a beautiful past.

20 seconds is all I've got before it's all gone,
Like an elephant's memory, strong and lifelong.
I'm the Clark's Nutcracker, storing secrets away,
A chimpanzee's recall in this mental foray.

Dolphin's whistle echoes, through the years I will last,
But for me, a fleeting mouse, my time is fading fast.
A record of beautiful eyes, that never lie, but only make you realize.
What's at stake, your smile, I long for the truth.
