To print extra receipts, without any gold in hand,
He knew only he knew how much gold was there,
So he printed more receipts, without any care.

The people used the receipts to trade for goods,
And the goldsmith's plan worked, as he knew it would,
But his greed got the best of him,
And he printed too many receipts, to the brim.

The people found out, and they were mad,
The goldsmith's reputation was bad,
He learned his lesson, and he paid the price,
For his greed, he had to sacrifice.
