For the Wixárika family NIERIKA means "The gift of sight " it makes reference to the vision of the ancestral Gods. For the Wixaritari the Nierika is obtained trough a ritual that has the purpose to understand the hidden state or authenticity of all!
The Nierika boards can represent the worlds of gods or also could be inspired in the dreams and visions, and usually they are made with the traditional artcraft materials and then they are left as offerings in their religious ceremony sites.
