Long ago, on the dark side of a distant moon, a group of brave souls allowed the shadows to consume them. In response, the surrounding spirits calcified their fear into Dark Eggs. Nowadays, these Eggs are rare because finding one means contending with the nightmares who guard them. Few undergo this frightening endeavor, and even fewer return with their sanity intact.
The Dark Egg is one of Metropolis World’s Ethereal Eggs: a limited collection of eggs which can be hatched to reveal their mystery contents - Ethereal Creatures.
The Ethereal Creatures are part of Metropolis World's lore and are special collection lucky companion creatures within Celeste. Hatched from mystical Eggs found within our world, Ethereals grant their partner special abilities according to their species elemental type: Kelpie (Water), Drifter (Air), Blossom (Earth), Loki (Fire), Polka (Pixel), Astro (Space), Tika (Time), and Haunt (Darkness). They can be attached to a user's avatar and accompany characters throughout Metropolos World, acting as it's "spirit creature". All Ethereal Creatures are individually unique and can be equipped with other accessories and provide exclusive benefits.
