Introducing
The "Folklore" collection portrays traditions such as folk dances, legends, beliefs and myths are some of the predominant themes in the artist's canvases and drawings.
In Northeast Brazil, the story of Bumba Bumbรก was inspired by the legend of Mother Catirina and Father Francisco (aka Chico) in this version, Mother Catirina, when pregnant, has the desire to eat the tongue of an ox. Eager to satisfy his wife's wishes, Chico kills one of the oxen from the herd at the farm where he works. By resurrecting the animal, the presence of indigenous and African elements is shown, such as the cure by the healer and the resurrection of the animal. The Boi Bumbรก festival is celebrated to commemorate the miracle.
