Consumption

The year is 7387. You wake up to another scorching, lonesome day on post-apocalyptic Earth. Your body aches as you lather your translucent skin with the last dollop of radiation cream and begin your day of scrounging for whatever semi-edible objects you can find hidden in the rubble of your vacant 'city'. You get a sharp pain in your abdomen and fall to the ground in agony. You haven't eaten in days, your fingernails are falling off and your tongue has turned to leather, either due to dehydration, radiation poisoning, or extreme sun exposure. You haven't given up though. You claw and crawl your way to the nearest shady spot you can find - under the chassis of a burnt-out postal van. You lean up against that frame and you think this is the end. You begin to flip through some of your fondest memories in your head as your vision begins to blur. You take one last breath and you see...... 5 BAGELS!!! Your life is saved - these are your sustenance. The End.
